Wildlife Weekend with Wild Harmony

Date: October 2010

Wild Encounter : Set in 32 acres of landscaped and eco-friendly gardens, Otterburn Tower is an ideal spot for nature lovers to spend the weekend. The gardens are managed with the aim of developing an attractive garden with a high proportion of native plants. No insecticides, fungicides or inorganic fertilisers are used. Animals naturally use the garden as part of their range and frequent visitors include stoats, badger, fox and hedgehogs. Bats, frogs, newts, and a large range of birds and butterflies can also be seen as well as red squirrel at the end of the estate garden.
Itinerary: Each trip begins on the Friday evening with dinner at the Tower followed by an evening talk on British Mammals. Activities will include small mammal surveys within the hotel grounds, a talk on wildlife friendly gardening and an evening bat walk. The event will finish on Sunday afternoon.
